Hello again friends!

How is your week progressing?  I do hope you’re being blessed and encouraged in your walk with Jesus and are rejoicing in Him….

Earlier in the week I posted a piece on my Author Facebook page about making decisions and trusting God because He is faithful!  I thought that today I might expand a bit on that, and share a few more thoughts about it – and maybe some challenges as well!

This was the verse I shared:

“He who calls you will do it, because he is faithful.”  1 Thessalonians 5:24 GNT

‘Yes’ Lord

Tell me, what is your reaction when you begin to realise that maybe, just maybe, the Lord might be starting to speak to you about something specific He wants you to do?  Only, at that point, it doesn’t seem very ‘specific’ and so you’re not really very sure what He’s actually ‘asking’ you to do!

I find that, at times, it can be crystal clear what I’m being asked because it resonates in my spirit and I just seem to know.  At other times, it’s the scenario I’ve shared in the paragraph above.  And then, there are also the varying degrees between the two….

So how do we, you and I, react when the Lord is asking us to be obedient to something He is asking us to do?  The Holy Spirit is a Gentleman and will lead us in the right direction; but, ultimately, it’s up to us to make the choice as to whether we follow His prompting.

How do we, get on when we’re being asked to say:  “Yes, Lord”?  How do we come to a decision?

Decision Making

Sometimes, I’ve been ‘nudged’ by the Spirit, and He’s been so gentle that it’s been difficult to know whether I’d just imagined it or not!  On other occasions, I’ve found that I’ve had a growing conviction in my spirit over a period of time – which has gradually crystallised to the point where I’ve realised what the Lord was saying.  And, as I said earlier, sometimes it so resonates in my spirit what I’m to do, that I just ‘know that I know’…..

I’m sure there are other examples, but it’s not the examples I want to look at today – it’s what we do in response to the Lord when we believe He’s spoken to us – whatever way that He does it.

I do believe that even if we ‘ignore’ it – that, in itself, is a choice that we have made!  It might feel easier to ignore – but, in the long run, it will probably slow you down in making progress in your relationship with Jesus.

Making a Move

I believe that the most important action of all is to talk to the Lord about it – He should always be our ‘first port of call’…..  I’m not saying don’t to talk to friends, family, etc – but talk first to the One who’s posed the question – the Source.  There’s no ‘one’ answer, because we’re all different, but what should be the same in every case is that we talk / pray and ask Father to show us.

I have also found that, if I start to move towards acting on what I believe He has said, He will show me whether I’m going in the right direction.  You see, I feel that if I’m on the move – I can be shown if it’s the right way or, if I’m wrong, I can be redirected.  If I stay still and don’t move – it’s hard to move in any direction!

If you sit in the car in the garage – you’re never going to go anywhere!  It’s only as you start to drive that you can reach your destination – wherever that may be….

Trust Father

However, above everything else involved in making decisions of any sort, the most important thing is to “Trust Father” in it all.  God is faithful and His promise in the Word, in the verse in Thessalonians I shared earlier, is that He will provide you with all that you need, to accomplish all He’s called you to do.

Our God is Faithful – He Never Fails us.
