“I will go before you and level the mountains [to make the crooked places straight]; I will break in pieces the doors of bronze and cut asunder the bars of iron.”
Isaiah 45:2 (AMPC)

Cyrus – King of Persia

I’d like to share a bit more about this verse from Isaiah….

Here, in the book of Isaiah we meet Cyrus, the King of Persia, who is called God’s anointed.  That, in itself, seems rather strange!  Why?  Well, normally the term ‘God’s anointed’, would be used in connection with  an Israelite – one of God’s chosen people,  whereas Cyrus is a Persian king….  But God will choose whom He will, and who is willing, to fulfil His plans.

Through Isaiah, the Lord tells Cyrus that he and his armies will be used by God to set His people, the Israelites, free and bring them back from exile.  God says that  “…..I will direct all his ways; he will build My city, and he will let My captives go….”

God’s Promise to Cyrus

And, as we read in the verse above, what a wonderful promise the Lord gives to Cyrus in connection with what He is going to do in the process.

The phrase I want to look at in particular is the promise to:  “….cut asunder the bars of iron.”  As well as the other promises given to Cyrus, there is this promise to cut through any iron bars that might stand in his way and try to slow him down or prevent him from being successful in the task that the Lord has given to him.  What a promise to stand on all through the fighting and the commission that he’d been given!

My Iron Bars

Tell me – have you any ‘iron bars’ in your life at the moment?  By that I mean – have you any situations in your life that appear to be impossible to ‘break’ through; as in the same way it is difficult to break through an ‘iron bar’…..

In the same way that the Lord said he would break through the obstacles faced by Cyrus, He says to us today that He can straighten out those things in our lives that are holding us back from going on with Him.  And I’m sure that some of them really feel like iron bars that have a strong grip on our lives; BUT GOD is well able to break through them and set you free!

Whatever ‘iron bars’ you may have in your life – you need to take them to the Lord.  Thank Him that, in His presence, they can be broken.  And then STAND FIRM on His Promise to break through them – today, and every day until you break through them with Him!!

God bless you. 🙏❣️
