“I will not die; instead, I will live to tell what the Lord has done.”  Psalms 118:17 NLT

Early on in Psalm 118, we find David saying to the Lord:

“Once I was hemmed in and surrounded by those who don’t love you. But by Yahweh’s supernatural power I overcame them all! (118:10 TPT).

So, how did David overcome in this situation – and live to testify to all those of us who have followed through the years….?

David’s Key

We learn, from all that David shares in the many Psalms written by him, that he had a special relationship with the Lord.  But, we also learn that it wasn’t in anyway an ‘exclusive’ relationship – he wouldn’t have shared so freely otherwise.

It was that relationship that enabled him to go on trusting and walking with his God through all his troubles.  We know he had many troubles, and he didn’t hold back from crying to the Lord for His help – another lesson for us to learn!

The wonderful thing is that each and every one of us are able to ask our Father to take us deeper in our love relationship with Him!  To walk with Him daily, share our hearts and the good and bad things we experience on a day to day basis.

Testify

We need to also remember that David didn’t just ask the Lord for His help – he always  praised and thanked Him as that help was given.  Yes, another lesson for us all!

How do we know this?  You see, later in the same Psalm, we have David rejoicing in the result and saying very clearly that:

“I didn’t die. I lived! And now I’m telling the world what God did. God tested me, he pushed me hard, but he didn’t hand me over to Death.”  (Psalm 118:17 MSG).

NOTHING that the Lord allows us to go through in our lives is ever wasted – and the Lord can use it to advance His Kingdom.

It’s good to share with others, and to testify to how the Lord takes us through the challenges we face  and what we learn from them.

NOTHING happens by chance – we are ALWAYS “…in His hands” and very much a part of His Plan!

And be encouraged that He still has much for you to do…..!!
