God’s Light

“If we freely admit our sins when his light uncovers them, he will be faithful to forgive us every time. God is just to forgive us our sins because of Christ, and he will continue to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”  1 John 1:9 TPT

John is speaking to us about ‘Living in the Light’ and points out that we’re only fooling ourselves if we think we have no sin, because that’s exactly what God’s light does when it shines on us!  It immediately reveals the sin in us….

I wonder how easy you find it to forgive yourself when you’ve done wrong?  It’s difficult enough to forgive other people – but, I find it so much harder to forgive myself for my actions.  However, that is exactly what John says we’re to do and, actually, that’s when the Lord is faithful in forgiving us; and He is able to cleanse us from the unrighteousness that we’ve clothed ourselves in.

Living in the Light

The wonderful thing is, that in His forgiveness of sins and in the cleansing that takes place from His light revealing them – it also makes it possible for His light to shine through us to a greater degree.

And, let’s face it, that’s what He desires – that His light should shine through in our lives, showing the way for others to come to Him.

Testimony

For your encouragement I’d like to testify to the release it brings in our spirit, when we are able to follow the instructions in this verse!  Those of you who have read my first book “The Turning of the Tide” will know that I attempted suicide, way back in 1970, and experienced God stepping in – first to save me in an amazing way, and then to forgive me.

Unfortunately to begin with, I couldn’t forgive myself….  It was only when He took me to this verse and I stepped out in faith, that things changed.  I knew that it was necessary for me to forgive myself, because He had forgiven me – and to know the release of that forgiveness.

I think if I hadn’t been able to do that – the rest of my life would have been very different.  If I hadn’t been able to do that, I would have continued to feel guilty for what I had done.  And I know that I wouldn’t have been free and been able to let myself live in a love relationship with Jesus.

Praise God!!  He loves us so much and is so patient in doing all He needs to do to walk with Him in His Light.

Bless you. 🙏❣️
