When the Light Goes Out

Do you find it difficult to find your way, if you’re suddenly plunged into the dark with no lights around to help you – either indoors or out?  I guess that most of us experience a certain degree of blindness in that sort of situation!

But I believe that it’s even harder to cope with, when we experience another sort of  darkness.   The sort of darkness that comes when we don’t know what God wants us to do – which is called ‘spiritual blindness’…..

In the Wilderness

You would have thought that the Israelites would have experienced this sort darkness (ie spiritual blindness), when they ended up wandering in the desert after they were saved from slavery in Egypt.  But this, in fact, was not what they experienced.

God’s Light

God definitely didn’t bring them out of Egypt to leave them wandering in the wilderness in the dark!  It was the Lord that led them  through the wilderness….  We read in the Word that:

“The Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night.”Exodus 13:21 AMPC

God Walks With Me in the Light

Through the prophet Isaiah we are told by the Lord that:

“I will lead blind people by ways that they did not know. I will be their guide along paths that are new to them. I will make the dark places in front of them into light places. And I will make the rough places flat. Those are the things that I will do. I will not leave my people by themselves.”Isaiah 42:16 EASY

God’s Promise

What more could we possibly ask for?  God gives us a very clear promise that He will make the dark places in front of us into ‘light places’.  He promises that He won’t leave us on our own and will never forsake us.  He actually goes so far as to say that He will be our “….guide along paths that are new…” to us.

What a promise for us to stand on – every day when we walk with Jesus!!!!  🙏❣️
