“I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord.” Psalms 40:1-3 NLT
God Hears My Cry for Help
I guess, if we’re honest, we all know what it’s like to feel down at times, in varying degrees. David certainly did and there are many instances in the Psalms he wrote, where he cries out to God for help to get him through. Once again here in Psalm 40, he’s testifying to how his Father has heard his cry and ‘lifted’ him out of what he describes as ‘the pit of despair’.
A Learning Curve
We can learn a great deal from David as to how he handled these occasions, because he NEVER stays there and we would do well to understand why that was the case. I believe it’s important in our walk with the Lord, to learn ways of coping and dealing with what the enemy throws at us.
David, no matter how bad things were, ALWAYS turned to the Lord and asked for His help and believed that He would never fail him. And He never did! David moved from despair to a safe place with the Lord’s help and ALWAYS ended up singing and praising God.
Let’s choose to learn from David and follow his example!
And Declare together that: “Depression days are over, I am entering into a season of deliverance”
Have a blessed Easter 🙏❣️.
