“O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good! Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who trusts and takes refuge in Him.” Psalm 34:8 AMPC

God’s Own Heart

The prophet Samuel refers to David as being a man “after God’s s own heart” (1 Samuel 13:14).  David’s heart really belonged to His God and this is seen in so many of his songs – which he wrote to express what he was feeling and experiencing in his life.   This applied to both the good and the bad things happening to him.

God Kept Him Safe

He knew from experience that God looked after and kept him safe in all that was happening in his life.  This was especially true during the years that Saul spent hunting for him in order to kill him.  In this Psalm 38 he is once again giving thanks to his Father for keeping him safe and encouraging those who hear / read the Psalm to “taste and see” that the Lord is good.  He’s saying to us that the relationship he has with his Father is ‘sweet’ and he wants others to taste of that sweetness and realise how good it is.

Sweeter Than Honey

Do you know, like David, the sweetness of a love relationship with your Father – so sweet that it tastes like honey?  That’s actually what our Father desires for each one of us.  And, out of that relationship, He wants us to share with others the love relationship we have with Him – so that they too will want to “taste and see” that their God and Father is good, and that we can always find refuge in Him.

Let’s Declare that…”My life is sweeter than honey.”

Be blessed 🙏❣️
