“I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.” John 15:15 NLT
Jesus is looking to have a personal friendship with each one of us – a friendship based on the new life created in us. He doesn’t just want to be an acquaintance.
When He called the disciples to follow Him it meant, on their part, that they would leave all and go with Him. In other words, He must be first in the affections of His followers, first in their hearts, first in their obedience and in their service. Wow! What a challenge!
How wonderful to be able to say that I am a friend of Jesus and know it’s not something I have made up, not just wishful thinking……it’s what Jesus said.
What do “friends” do? They share with each other the things that really matter and I would encourage you to share what’s on your heart with Jesus. He is your closest friend, so talk and share everything you do each day with Him. Ask His help when you’re not sure of things and ask Him what you should do – and remember to thank Him!
Let’s Declare together that… “I am a best friend of Jesus.”
