“Blow them away like smoke. Melt them like wax in a fire. Let the wicked perish in the presence of God.” Psalms 68:2 (NLT)
In the first verse of this Psalm David speaks to God and asks Him to ‘rise up’ in order that His enemies will be scattered. Then in verse two he even reckons that it would be good for God to melt them like ‘wax’ in a fire, and in this manner they will perish in the Presence of God.
So what, in essence, is David trying to show us here? When God’s Presence comes amongst us it’s as though the ‘fire’ burns and melts away all those things in our lives that shouldn’t be there. As God cleanses and sets us free through the power of the Holy Spirit, His ‘fire’, those problems in our lives start to get dealt with….very often because of the change that is taking place within us!
Once David establishes that, he goes on to encourage us to rejoice and be glad in God’s Presence and to sing praises to Him. I believe you’ll agree with me that to try to truly ‘praise’ the Lord, when the Holy Spirit is dealing / challenging you about something in your life; is very hard. But once dealt with….melted away by God’s fire….the first thing you want to do is praise and thank the Lord!
If the Holy Spirit is speaking to you about anything that needs sorting out, then I would encourage you to let Him show you how, and get it sorted! But don’t try and sort it in your own strength because it won’t be a successful outcome….all the ‘wax’ won’t get melted away and the ‘smoke’ will linger!!
Let’s Declare together that: “My problems are melting away like wax in the presence of God’s Holy fire.”
Be Blessed 🙏❣️
