“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right, persevering, and steadfast spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10 AMPC
David’s Battle
The biggest battle that David fought wasn’t the physical battles with various armies – I believe it was the battle he fought with himself! David ‘stuck it out’ for about a year after he’d fallen headlong into adultery with Bathsheba, plus arranging the death of her husband on the battlefield. It was only then he finally crumbled and acknowledged it to the Lord. He must have realised that He knew all about it already – but that did nothing to speed things up!
Repentance
Once he could talk to the Lord about it – David was able to repent and receive the forgiveness he needed. At the centre of David’s life was the relationship he had with his Father. But he’d gone through a whole year without that really functioning. How could it, with sin in between blocking the relationship?
I believe David reached that breaking point, when he could no longer go on without his love relationship with the Lord being restored. And that’s why eventually ends up pleading with God to be given given a ‘new’ heart, so that he can live differently.
I Have Been Given a New Heart
How wonderful to know that, when we were born again of the Spirit of God – we were given a new heart and Jesus took up residence. And how amazing is that!
Help us Lord, to walk with You, knowing that You have given us a clean heart. 🙏❣️
Awesome Teaching Linda! This past week I bumped into a teaching on David and his heart when in Ziglak and his wives and all in his camp was burned to the ground and his men were angry at him.. he had to seek God to condole him and God to direct him in this matter. His heart was heavy yet God told him to pursue and get his wives etc back from his enemies, the Amalekites raider the city. 1 Samuel 30. I truly can relate to your Blog Ty Linda! Happy Holidays & God Bless You & Yours In Jesus Name🙏🏽Mikki
