“Bless the Lord , O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.  Bless the Lord , O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:” Psalms 103:1-2 KJV

The Choice is Ours

The title to this Psalm says it’s David’s ‘song of praise’ – and it certainly is!  David is revealing an important lesson to us here, which is that we are able to command our soul to praise God, the very One Who gave our soul to us.  In other words, we have a choice.  And he doesn’t leave it at that, because he stresses it by saying that ALL within him should be praising God.

I WILL Bless the Lord at ALL Times

Then David repeats it, just to make sure that we have understood, and says again “Bless the Lord O my soul”, so that there can be no doubt as to what he means!  Then he says we are to make sure that we don’t forget all of “His benefits”, all those multitude of things that our Father makes sure we are given on a daily basis.  We need to include in those things we’re not to forget, the greatest Gift of all that we’ve been given – the resurrection life of Jesus, living in us and through us by the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Passion translation of the first two verses in this Psalm really sums it all up for us….

“With my whole heart, with my whole life, and with my innermost being, I bow in wonder and love before you, the holy God! Yahweh, you are my soul’s celebration. How could I ever forget the miracles of kindness you’ve done for me?”  Psalms 103:1-2 TPT

Be blessed and “Bless the Lord” in all you do today… and every day!  🙏❣️
