“Be strong. Take courage. Don’t be intimidated. Don’t give them a second thought because God, your God, is striding ahead of you. He’s right there with you. He won’t let you down; he won’t leave you.”  Deuteronomy 31:6 MSG

A New Leader

God’s people, the Israelites, were facing their next task – to go into the country He had promised them, and possess it.  However, they’d just been informed by Moses, who had brought them all to their present destination overlooking the land – that he would not be going with them!  I wonder how we would have felt if we had been there?

Moses had explained to them that Joshua would be the one who would be leading them into the Promised Land.  But, as you can read in our verse today, he also said something else to them – something far more important!  He commanded them to be strong and courageous – but how could that happen?

God with Them and with Us!

The reason why Moses was able to say what he had, was because he could also say to them that God would be walking every step into the Promised Land with them and be their strength….  How about that?

The wonderful thing is that, the promise made to the Israelites all those years ago, is also made to us today.  Remember, we are also God’s people and He promises to walk step by step, and day by day, with us – that’s you and me.  And  gives us the strength that we need to face all that lies ahead.  How wonderful is that!

Let’s Declare together that:  “I have no need to be afraid of my enemies – not when You are with me to sort them out.”
