The ‘Crunch’ Line through Moses

When God spoke to His people the Israelites, through Moses, He made it really clear that the ‘crunch’ line, in the way that their future would turn out, was simply whether they would listen and be obedient to what He asked them to do……or not!  Moses tells them: 

“If you obey the LORD your God……He will make you greater than any other nation on earth.”  Deuteronomy 28:1 GNB

A Reminder through Jeremiah

Many years later God reminds the Israelites, this time through Jeremiah, that it was when He brought their ancestors out of Egypt that He had told them they were going to be His people and He would be their God. (Jeremiah 11:4 NLT)  What a privilege the Israelites had been given by God, that above all the other nations that He could choose, He chose them.  They were to be God’s people.  They were to be His special possession.

Chosen by God

How humbling for us to know and realise that, just as our Father chose the Israelites, He chooses each one of us.  What a privilege we have been given by God!!  We are, just like the Israelites, God’s people and Father’s special possession, set above all the other nations of the world.

BUT – and we must never forget this – we do need to have it settled within our hearts that our Father asks us to listen to Him and to obey Him!

How wonderful to know that we are God’s special possession – chosen by Him!
