“Lay aside bitter words, temper tantrums, revenge, profanity, and insults.” Ephesians 4:31 TPT

Paul is very clear when he says to the Ephesians, and as always that means us as well, that they are not to ‘grieve the Spirit of God’, just before he instructs them to lay aside all their bitter words etc listed here; and also tells them not to “….take for granted…” the Holy Spirit’s “….holy influence in your life”.

It is important that we never underestimate our need to forgive and let the bitterness go from our lives.  We will find that otherwise it will hold us back from going forward in our walk with Jesus, and hinder, as Paul says, the Holy Spirit’s influence in our lives.

We need to always remember that it’s only through Jesus’ death on the cross that we obtained forgiveness for our sins; and we in turn need to forgive those around us.  This is the only way to remove the bitterness held in our hearts.  Please remember that, for your own peace and ability to grow in God’s grace and relationship with Jesus, it is imperative that you forgive.  It leaves you free and in peace, and it leaves God free to deal with the person who has hurt you – as only He can!

I’m not saying it’s easy, and more than likely you won’t initially feel any different but, as time moves on, and you continue in your decision and also pray for the person who hurt you, you’ll begin to sense a difference in your spirit towards them.  God will honour the step you’ve taken by His grace, and will heal you as time moves on.

Be blessed. 🙏❣️
