“Everything I am will praise and bless the Lord! O Lord, my God, your greatness takes my breath away, overwhelming me by your majesty, beauty, and splendour!” Psalms 104:1 TPT.
Every day we each have the choice as to whether we will praise and bless the Lord! Or not! The Psalmist tells us that the greatness of God takes his breath away, because he is overwhelmed by God’s ‘majesty, beauty, and splendour’. Does the greatness of God make you feel like that?
Everything we see around us on a day to day basis, reveals the greatness of God to us – encouraging us to to praise God with everything in us. Actually, Luke tells of the time when Jesus said about His disciples that “…If they kept quiet, the stones would do it for them, shouting praise.” (Luke 19:40 MSG)
And the essence of this is summed up in our Declaration today: “My voice WILL speak of your excellent glory forever.” But it isn’t something that happens automatically. We have to make the choice to do so – and sometimes that choice goes against what we feel like doing.
Sometimes we don’t ‘feel’ like praising God – but that’s very often the very time we need to rise up in our spirits and do it. And, believe me, the enemy doesn’t like it…. and so, you see, we can also use our praises to the Lord, as a weapon against the enemy as well!! Hallelujah!!!
