Challenges!
I wonder what sort of challenge(s) you might be facing in your life at the moment, whether small, big or seemingly insurmountable? And, more to the point – what you’re thinking of doing about them!
Let’s look at two examples in the Word, both of them famous men that found themselves in a ‘fix’ – and see what they did / or didn’t do…..
Abraham
We’re told by Paul in Romans that Abraham “….never stopped believing God’s promise, for he was made strong in his faith to father a child . And because he was mighty in faith and convinced that God had all the power needed to fulfil his promises, Abraham glorified God!” (4:20-21 TPT). And actually, we read in Genesis (18:14) that God had specifically said to him that “….NOTHING was too hard for the Lord.”
Moses
Now Moses, at the stage we’re looking at him today, was rather different; although I’m glad to say he did change for the better as time moved on….
When Moses was leading his people across the wilderness, after they’d escaped from Egypt, he reached a point where he wanted to pack it all up! He actually says to the Lord – “I am not able” (Numbers 11:14) and asks the Lord why the burden of ‘all these people’ had been laid on him. Everyone was coming to him and he was ending up doing everything! Sound familiar? I think we can probably all of us think of times, we’ve taken on too much…. The problem lies in taking on the responsibilities that actually belong to God – and we find we can’t cope!
The Lord solved the problem, once Moses turned to Him for help! And, if you’re familiar with the account, 70 men were roped in to help restore some order and structure to the lives of the people of Israel in the desert. They took over the responsibilities of ‘running the camp’ – leaving Moses to get on with what the Lord had planned for him.
Lessons to be learned?
Paul tells us very clearly that “God is able” (2 Corinthians 9:8) and we need to remember this as we move forward into what God has planned for us. We need the balance of trusting God to show us our part in what He has for us – and keeping our hands off that part that is His responsibility. That way we’ll remain at rest in it all – and won’t end up a frazzled wreck!
Equipped By God
Always remember that nothing is ever too hard for the Lord, and He never calls us to do anything that He doesn’t also equip us with the ability to do!
Remember: NOTHING is ever too hard for the Lord!
Thank you for this very timely reminder that the Lord really does care for us and do what he asks and let him worry about what he needs to do.
