We Have a Choice
How often do you, do I, wake up in the morning and think, or even say ‘Oh, no’ – when we realise we’ve got to get up and get on, and would far rather go back to sleep than face the day ahead. Well! Today’s declaration is exactly on target for one of those sort of mornings – and it starts with the two words “I will….”!
You see, we have a choice….. On those times when we might feel that the Lord’s not around and there is no God, because that’s what it feels like – that’s when sometimes we have to take the first step on our own. It really is a decision only we can make for ourselves, no one can make it for us. But, once we’ve done our part and taken the first step – we find that immediately He is there to help us and do His part.
The Message translation puts it this way: “Get out of bed…..Wake up. Put your face in the sunlight. God’s bright glory has risen for you.” Actually, this doesn’t just apply to first thing in the morning – we have a choice in every situation that we find ourselves in. We can choose whether we allow the light of God’s presence to shine through us – or sink down into what our feelings are trying to control us with.
I want to encourage you to make choices that allow the Holy Spirit to come into your situation and help you. I’ve often heard it said that He is a ‘gentleman’ and will never force His way in where He isn’t wanted!
We can Declare together: “I will ARISE and SHINE for my light has come, and the Glory of God is upon me.”
