The Holy Spirit’s Whisper
‘The whisper of the Holy Spirit’….. I wonder what that conjures up in your heart and mind when you think of it! I should think that many of you have been in the position, at some point in your walk with Lord, when you almost feel desperate for an answer to some question or situation that you find yourself in. When that’s happened to me – there has been such a desire in me to hear the answer loud and clear from God, giving me a certainty of what He wanted. And at times He did!
A Learning Curve
But, as I’ve got older I’ve learned that, although the Lord wants me to be ‘in the know’ concerning what He wants for me going forward; there hasn’t been so much clarity in His communication. I’ve needed to learn to tune my hearing, and my heart, to be more in line with His. To actually be more aware and in tune with the Holy Spirit.
In today’s verse we have Elijah, fresh from the ‘fire and brimstone’ confrontation with the prophets of Baal – needing to hear from God as to what was next on the agenda! He waited and listened through the wind, the earthquake and the fire – but there was nothing….. And then came the whisper of the Holy Spirit – and he heard, listened and communed with his God.
Precious Whispers
Those ‘whispers’ of the Holy Spirit are so precious, and I would encourage you to ask the Lord to help you to hear – all that He has to say to you!
Let’s declare that: “I am listening for whispers from the Holy Spirit that will change my life.”
