“I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].” Philippians 4:13 AMPC
Paul made it very clear, through the way that he lived his life, that the joy he experienced didn’t depend on his circumstances. This was just as well to be honest, considering the amount of time he spent in different prisons – very often chained to a soldier so he wouldn’t have had any privacy; added to which he was often recovering from various, floggings and half starved as well!
So how was it that he coped with all that he had to face and, to all intents and purposes, didn’t have any control over! When writing to Timothy, a young man that worked with him, he says how his “….heart spills over with thanks to God for the way he continually empowers me,” (1 Timothy 1:12 TPT). It would appear that, as the Holy Spirit strengthened Paul in every way he needed, so the joy would rise in his spirit and be greater than all he was facing.
Let’s be of the company that walk in Paul’s footsteps, and draw on the strength and joy of the Lord to walk through all that the enemy throws at us – remembering that with God ‘All things are Possible’. Hallelujah!!
