“All of this is the land which I, the Lord, promised to give to your ancestors, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and to their descendants. Go and occupy it.’” Deuteronomy 1:8 GNT
Tell me, have you ever been told by God to go somewhere, but only that you’re to ‘go’ – He hasn’t told you where? I think if we’re honest, most of us would agree that even the thought of it is pretty scary…. Well that’s exactly what happened to Abraham (Genesis 12:1 RSV.) – but the trouble was, it wasn’t just Abraham on his own, it was the whole family, so how on earth did he explain that one?!
At least when it came to Moses, several hundreds of years later, they knew they were going into the Promised Land – even if they didn’t seem to be over keen! But God never gives up on us and, although the Israelites wandered for 40yrs in the desert, eventually their offspring arrived where God wanted them to be…. in the land of Canaan that He had chosen for them.
So what has this to do with you and me today? We may not face anything as drastic as Abraham, but God has a plan for each one of us to always be moving forward into all He has prepared for us and to complete the task(s) He has planned, to further His Kingdom here on earth.
As we are willing and obedient and take one step at a time, He reveals the next step to us and what and where He wants to take us – an exciting adventure, with the Holy Spirit leading us! Don’t miss it!
